Incorrect popup suggesting I am unlicensed for business use

I have been using the free Avast at home, for home use only, for some time and as I work in IT, have recommended it to a large number of people.

Suddenly, and for no reason, I am now getting popups suggesting that I am unlicensed for business use. Well, I agree, but I am not using Avast for business and am fully complying with the free version licence. I have no intention of “upgrading” to a paid version since I do not need to.

How do I stop these ridiculous popups, without shoving Avast and moving to different AV.
I think it is very sad that Avast has now resorted to these tactics to try to scare people into paying for something they don’t need.

thanks

I’ve looked at that thread, but I’m getting the popups since 18 August, when the poster said “we recently ran a campaign”, implying that the popups should not occur after 18 August.

Also, can I suggest that anyone wanting a domain (for non commercial use) at home is almost bound to have 3 or more computers on the domain. You have to run AD on a server so that’s 1, then only 2 other PCs would trigger popup - ridiculous!! Far too low a threshold - should have been set at 5 or more !! What Avast has done here is alienate more people than the “campaign” would encourage to license.

@brummy21,

Please read the complete topic of that link. The 3 / 5 PC was already updated, and the period of the campaign was not publicly established. It is, though, something that is limited for a relative short period of time.
