Hi…can ANYONE tell me what would cause Incredimail not to install after download? I purchased the premium version 3 yrs ago…I started having problems with getting it to send mail, so I uninstalled it and have tried to re-install it with out any luck. It downloads but will not install. I have not had any luck with Incredimails support…have written them 3 e-mails with no reply. If I hadnt paid for this I would just drop it. Any help would be appreciated…thanks!
If you have Windows 98\Me, the change of the login settings is normal while using avast.
See http://forum.avast.com/index.php?action=display;board=2;threadid=7913;start=0#msg64228
With Win98 SE you should have:
pop3 server= smtp server = 127.0.0.1
username = mail.server.coml#user or mail.server.com#user@server.com
smtp authentication enabled and the username there = mail.server.coml#user or mail.server.com#user@server.com
With Windows XP or 2000, the scanning is tranparently, i.e., you don’t need to adjust any setting.
Tech, lisa2381 hasn’t been able to install it after uninstalling it, not related to being unable to send email (problems with getting it to send mail weren’t specified). I assume since lisa2381 has sent them emails, that email program (not incredimail) and ashMaiSv.exe are working ok.
@ lisa2381
Did you reboot after the uninstall?
Do you have any other security related software that might block installation?
More importantly, when you say ‘will not install’ are there any error messages, what are the symptoms?
No messages…it just never starts installing…dissappears
yes I did reboot after the uninstall…I was having no problems until 2 weeks ago and all of a sudden I couldnt get it to send mail…could receive ok but not send. I unistallled it thinking that uninstalling and reinstalling would help whatever the reason was…obviously I was wrong…lol…I am useing Outlook express now but would rather have Incredimail back. It downloads but then dissappears when I try to install it. Thanks for all your replys!
Sounds like you may have a spyware problem !? Have you
run any antiSPYWARE program(s), and if yes, what were
the results ?
Is there anything in here that might help http://www.incredimail.com/english/help/index.html
I didn’t see a forum link perhaps the Contact Us should be your next port of call after all you have paid for the product.
http://www.incredimail.com/english/contact.html
I don’t think so…
But, ok David, I did an assumption before Lisa has been posted ;D
What do you mean? Did you save the file (setup) to disk and cannot run it?
Yes…when I load the exe. file to disk it opens, acts like it is installing, then dissappears. I have tried this several times. Now when I try to open a file in outlook I get an Incredimail application error telling me it failed to open because ImBrowse.dll was not found, which makes no sence to me because I’m useing Outlook. Still no help from Incredimail and I have e-mailed them 3 times in last week. Any way to contact them by phone?..
If you uninstall and install again, will it correct the error?
Support from IncrediMail is extremely deficient
yes I have tried to uninstall and install several times with no results…unfortunately I am finding that out about Incredimail’s customer support…lol…you guys are great though!..thanks for all your quick replys…
Your welcome, good luck with not so incredimail customer support. The website doesn’t even give you a contact address that I could see.
Unfortunately to get support you have to use the Program itself. You go to Help - VIP Support and an Email comes up with all your details of purchase and you insert your problem. I have always received prompt help this way.
Have you fully uninstalled your old version of Incredimail? Perhaps if you used the free Program RegSeeker and put Incredimail in “Find in the Registry”. The Program will find all entries of Incredimail and you can delete them. It makes a Back up, so you do not have to worry about deleting. If you find the delete affects your computer you just go to Backup and it reinserts what you have deleted.
Then with a clean computer you may perhaps be able to install Incredimail. Hope this helps.
- uninstall Incrediamail using add/remove
- reboot
- check manually if there are files left. If so, delete them
- run CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/
- reboot
- install incredimail
Is this working/solving the problem?
Will try this…thank-You!!
Lisa :
If you use CCleaner, it is advised you UNcheck the
"Issues" portion of the program, since this is a
"suspect" registry cleaner; this is always advised
by Ad-Aware Experts.
All the Issues options? Why?
Won’t you trust any Registry cleaner?
Tech & Lisa :
I think one of the main reasons Ad-Aware Experts do NOT
recommend using CCleaner's "Issues" is the following :

Advanced Member
it is a good program
BUT READ THE INFO ON THEIR SITE !!!
the “issues” part can cause you trouble!!! so look up items before automaticaly deleting them ( it does give you a backup option)
I have mine set on windows part for ALL BUT the advanced part ( read the instructions) ".
This is their usual advise :
"
Instructions for using CCleaner:
- Before first use, check under Options > Advanced > UNcheck “Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours”.
- A pop up box will appear advising this process will permanently delete files from your system.
- To protect logon cookies that you wish to retain, under Options > Cookies. Select and using the arrow move those cookies to the “Cookies to keep” column.
- Then select the items you wish to clean up.
In the Windows Tab:
Clean all entries in the “Internet Explorer” section.
Clean all the entries in the “Windows Explorer” section.
Clean all entries in the “System” section.
Clean all entries in the “Advanced” section.
Clean any others that you choose.
In the Applications Tab:
Clean all in the Firefox/Mozilla section if you use it.
Clean all in the Opera section if you use it.
Clean Sun Java in the Internet Section.
Clean any others that you choose.
-
Click the “Run Cleaner” button and it will scan and clean your system.
-
Click exit.
-
Shutdown/restart the computer. "
You can ask the Ad-Aware Experts WHY on their forums at
www.landzdown.com .I, personally, use the FREE “evaluation copy” of Registry First
Aid available from www.rosecitysoftware.com .
