Hi,
My girlfriend has a PC at work which found a string of files in the program files\alwil software\avast4 folder on Friday morning.
We moved them to the virus chest.
Here is a list:
Just wondering if they should be deleted?
Thanks,
MP

The list is absent.
Not sure what the scenario is, here, I understand Avast is the AV on this computer, and it has detected infected files in its own program folder?
Oops, sorry… posted in too much of a hurry.
The files and their original location are:
Win32:adware-gen [ADW] (3 occurrences) in …\alwil software\avast4\data\moved
Win32:adware-gen [ADW] (1) in …\alwil software\avast4\data\report
Win32:adware-gen [ADW] (1) in …\alwil software\avast4\data\journal

The data\moved folder is where avast stores infected file which the user chooses Move/Rename and appends .vir to the file name, so avast already found those files before. The user should have sent them to the chest.
Thee is nothing in the data\journal folder on my system.
You are still in a bit of a hurry, as you didn’t say what the file names are ;D
Without those it is hard to say any more.
Thanks DavidR,
That’s all the info I can see in the Virus Chest (by file names I meant the names of the infections).

No the file name of the infected file, not the name of the infection.
Check the avast! Log Viewer (right click the avast ‘a’ icon), Warning section, this contains information on all avast detections. C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashLogV.exe
