Infected by MX97:CVE-2006-3431 [Expl]

Dear all,

I m new here, need help from you all…
Many of my excel files infected by this virus: MX97:CVE-2006-3431 [Expl].
avast! can not clean/repair, so for some infections i clicked “move to chest”, some clicked to “no-action” button, some deleted… :frowning:
I need those files, could any one help me to get the files back?

I also used AVG, McAfee, Norton to scan but no result, only avast! found that virus, so PLEASE HELP…

Thks a lot to you all,

Well, if you have clicked “No action” the files were left where they were, just prevented from being executed. “Move to chest” action moves the files to Virus Chest. You can access it by starting avast! antivirus simple interface and clicking Virus Chest icon (damn i miss default Virus Chest access in tray menu). Anyway you’ll be able to restore the files from there if you’re sure they are clean.

Are you sure you have the latest VPS? Are the files still detected with it? There was a false alarm few days ago concerning this detection.

avast! has already been updated just already, so the VPS is up to date for sure.
And I have scanned the files before I open. I scanned the files also with AVG and Zone Alarm. But all can not detect the virus.

But when I try to restore the files (I backed it up with Nero), avast detected the virus, and then i put it into chest. AVG and Zone Alarm can not detect.

How do I remove the virus? Please help.

Thks,

It was a false alarm, not the real virus.

Right now avast should not detect anything in the files.

Are they installed in the same computer as avast, at the same time? I mean, ZA antivirus and AVG antivirus?

Yes, the ZA and AVG antivirus are installed in one pc at the same time, n I scan using these tools at the same time, no conflict.

Mr Kubecj,
If it is a false alarm, not a real virus, you mean that I can restore the files without any harm?

Yes.

Thanks a lot Mr Kubecj… i can sleep well then…

But you’ll have with avast, sooner or later…

Uno99 - if you have more than one anti-virus program active on your computer, this is most likely why you are having a problem. More than one anti-virus program will cause conflicts as they “fight” over control of malicious files. You may not see this “fight” going on and think there are no conflicts when indeed there are conflicts. Please remove all but one anti-virus program from your computer. Since avast found the problem file(s), I suggest you keep avast and remove the other anti-virus programs.
