I just found an infected file in the virus chest and am unsure of the proper sequence to remove it from my PC. Does using the - right click - delete option in the chest rid my PC of the file or just remove it from the chest? Thanks to all who reply.
There is no rush to delete anything from the chest, a protected area where it can do no harm. Anything that you send to the chest you should leave there for a few weeks. If after that time you have suffered no adverse effects from moving these to the chest, scan them again (inside the chest) and if they are still detected as viruses, delete them.
Deletion isn’t really a good first option (you have none left), ‘first do no harm’ don’t delete, send virus to the chest and investigate.
The file in question is in F:\System Volume Information. When i highlight on the Folder it say empty and when i try and open the folder my PC wont let me open it. What is this folder?
The System Restore folder. There are located the restore points of your computer. Generally the access is denied (except for the system) and files are hidden.
Thank you. Hmmmm I guess I should search and read other posts here @ avast befor posting a Q as I’ve found lots of info on this problem. This closes this thread. END
