Since this goes back to Dec. 2005, hopefully those of us using avast! are protected.
Does any one know for sure???
Hi bob3160,
Be happy, don’t worry, we are protected, but it was not so long ago:
Update avast! 4.x VPS (released: 26.7.2006, version: 0630-2) …
The vulnerability window you know…
polonus
thanks for the info polonus ![]()
you were scaring me “AGAIN” :o
That’s not very good considering back in December 2005 it was already detected by the following:
Antivirus Version Update Result
Kaspersky 4.0.2.24 12.14.2005 Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Zlob.cu
NOD32 v2 1.1322 12.14.2005 probably a variant of Win32/TrojanDropper.Small.NCU
CAT-QuickHeal8 12.13.2005 (Suspicious) - DNAScan
Why did it take 7 month for us to get that protection? :‘( :’(
Maybe Alwil has an explanation? I’d sure like to hear it.
Hi dear bob,
That ai least was the info I found on the google result page when googling for the name of the alias of the Vcodec malware, and that date and update version was given in the search-result info on that result page. If this malware was added earlier in another variant is for Avast to explain, I just report my search findings- nothing more, nothing less, don’t know when the info was archived.
yours truly,
polonus
