Avast! detected nothing

Update MBAM,scan again and click remove the found infected files. As u havent remove them.

Oh I did that, My problem is Avast! didn’t detect them

No security program have 100% detection

That would be an obvious answer and a poor answer at that. Users are encouraged to get an antivirus of their choice, And when there is an infection the AV will give an answer that does not help solve the problem? Really?? Whether it is Avast! or another antivirus provider, Researchers should be researching more viruses in the wild, At least enable the client to send a possible infection rather sending a file that has already been considered a virus or fale positive

The malware writers is also doing research.....so malware hunters will always play catch-up

As Pondus says No security program have 100% detection

I see that you now have more than 20 posts which will permit you to update your profile to include signature information.

Go to PROFILE then Modify Profile then Forum Profile Information then Signature: and put information about your system just like my signature about your system just like my signature so that the helpers can offer pertinent advice.

I run MBAM resident and for its one time fee it is well worth tha additional protection against the current prolific malware.

You can upload any suspicious file to Avast - open the virus chest > right click in the empty white space and select add > browse to the file and select it. Right click the file and select send to virus labs… Job done

Final shot

I don’t want to blame AVAST, but there are lots of cases when avast! don’t detect many items… It’s zero day protection is still weak.

Personally I believe Avast! Home to be an excellent active shield protection for online use, and general file analysis in real time.

I do use MBAM as my primary on demand scanner however.

Nevertheless Avast! Pro, and the free Home edition are constantly detecting more and more real virus, and improving significantly Scan detection rates.

The real time shields offer excellent protection in my experience.

If Avast was that bad then the percentage of systems I treat that have Avast would be increasing with the user base. But I have not noticed that. The top three are still AVG, Norton, McAfee

Well that’s coming from frontline experience, a very significant observation, makes me feel safer.
After many years using Avast! it has proved itself as real protection, personally
