Up until today I have had no problems with Avast, but about 2 hours ago, and since then, almost every URL that I go on says ‘Infection blocked’ in the top right corner, and has a path location to random file directories in my computer.
I did a Full system scan and it put 64 infections into the Chest. Is my computer infected, is it at risk? Or is Avast just freaking out for some reason. Everything seems to be running as normal (no slowing, etc), but the fact it keeps popping up with ‘Infection blocked’ is a bit concerning. Even going on websites like Amazon made ‘infection blocked’ pop up. The file directories are all to random locations in my computer. Does anybody know what’s happening?
I should add, all the files detected were listed as ‘VBS Malware’.
I’m having the same issue! Could it possibly be that the software downloaded a botched virus database update?
I really hope they get this fixed if it was a botched update, I really started to freak out when it just started popping up left and right saying infection blocked, it even blocked an “infection” from my electric sheep screensaver! I did a very very short full-scale on and it found VBS: malware-gen from legit applications like iMovie and spotlight search!
Glad to know it’s not just me then! I’m exactly the same, I went onto Amazon and it said it’d found an infection in the iMovie file location or something…
Seems like Real-Time notification centers around any sites (gmail, facebook, anything) that I open by Chrome. Using Firefox now and does not have as many pop-up warnings.
My Scan is now at 80% and there are already 171 infections - something is very wrong. Infections contains all kinds of files including .png, gif. lut, dat, pdf,
Hey guys I am having the same problem, my computer was just working fine, I was doing some doing some codes and when i tried to run it the inflection blocked pop up started. I ran the avast and it is giving me VPS malware gen or something for things like spotlight imovies and other applications and files. Do anyone know why is this happening? It’s freaking me out
Mine is showing that it’s been updated to 17022200, but when I do a scan it’s still finding VBS malware-gen infections. I rebooted my Mac, too. I guess I’ll try uninstalling Avast completely and reinstalling it.
