I have a VMWare Player application for Windows 7 x64 and Windows Server 2008 for my Network Security class. Some of the lessons involve downloading intentional infections, but we haven’t done that yet. Because of that though I have turned off real-time scanning of my VMWare folder so Avast! won’t stop the infection from getting on the VM. Today I decided to do a right-click scan of the VMWare folder, and Avast! detected my Windows 7 VM as infected with Win32:Adloader-AC[Trj]. Unfortunately it didn’t tell me where in the VM. I ran the VM and ran a full scan with heurisitcs on high, and it found nothing. Is it a false positive because it’s a VM? I can’t upload it to virustotal because it’s several gigabytes.
Hello,
exclude this disk images from scanning.

Ok, thank you. I figured it was the fact that it’s a VM.
