Infection: Win32: Trojan-gen, Win32: Zbot-ALW & Win32: Spyware-gen

I am new to Avast! 4.8 and just learning how to use it. I ran the “Thorough” scan and received the following Results of last scan:

Infection: Win32: Trojan-gen,
Infection: Win32: Zbot-ALW
Infection: Win32: Spyware-gen

Plus 15 other files:

Unable to scan: The file is a decompression bomb.

I’ve tried to select and delete the files, which locked up the app, requiring the Task Manager to stop the app. After running the scan again, an error message appeared stating: “Error occurred during file deleting. There are no more files”.

How do I delete the infected files? and the decompression bomb files (assuming I should delete them)?

What are some of the infected file name, where were they found e.g. (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) ?

Check the avast! Log Viewer (right click the avast ‘a’ icon), Warning section, this contains information on all avast detections. C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashLogV.exe

If you have XP, vista32bit or Win2k, you could enable a boot time scan. Right click the avast icon, select Start avast! Antivirus, a memory scan will take place followed by the opening of the Simple User Interface, Menu, ‘Schedule boot-time scan…’ Or see http://www.digitalred.com/avast-boot-time.php.

Deletion isn’t really a good first option (you have none left), ‘first do no harm’ don’t delete, send virus to the chest and investigate.

There is no rush to delete anything from the chest, a protected area where it can do no harm. Anything that you send to the chest you should leave there for a few weeks. If after that time you have suffered no adverse effects from moving these to the chest, scan them again (inside the chest) and if they are still detected as viruses, delete them.

Decompression Bomb, a file that is highly compressed, which could be very large when decompressed. This used to be a tactic long ago to swamp the system, see http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=8943.msg73950#msg73950

Files that can’t be scanned are just that, not an indication they are suspicious/infected, just unable to be scanned.
