I just ran Microsoft Removal Tool, it claims I have 3 infections listed as follows: Trojan:win32/alureon.ct - Trojandownloader:win32/harnig.gen!p and Trojandownloader:win32/renos.kx - MRT said they are partially removed.
I then ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Avast v5, but they found no infections. Can anyone tell me what I should do next? I don’t know what other software to try.
You don’t mention the file names or locations of the detections, so it is somewhat difficult to comment ?
I also don’t know what their interpretation of partially removed means.
I think the question is more that MBAM and avast found nothing before the MRT was run as if the detection was good (unknown) then they would obviously not find anything after it was run. avast and MBAM do have detections for variants of Alureon, but there will always be a constant game of catch-up as new variants are created.
Personally I don’t use the MRT, being on dial-up it is the one security update I bypass. Check my signature and you will see my security applications aren’t much different to yours.
