After reformatting my PC I reinstalled Avast. Each time I try to get it to run (scan) I get a message: Unknown Error, the scan completed with error, 42000=unknown error.
The system tray icon always has a little red “no” icon.
How do I correct this?

It seems they had the same problem.
I’m not a computer expert and really didn’t understand just what they were talking about.
I seem to have solved the problem. I uninstalled the program; downloaded and installed a new copy; and it seems to be working OK now.
