InitJsonOutSvc.dat

Avast seems to create two files in C:/temp file, InitJsoninSvc.dat and InitJsonOutSvc.dat. Can anyone tell me the purpose of these two files? Thank you.

The avast temp folder is generally located in the C:\Windows\Temp_avast_ sub-folder.

A search for the first of these two files tend to feel these are adware related. The could have been detected by Windows Defender as it seems to indicate MSE detects these.

I am also seeing the files InitJsonInSvc.dat and InitJsonOutSvc.dat being created in my c:\temp folder at each startup. If I delete them they get re-created at next machine reboot.

The contents of the InitJsonInSvc.dat file are:

The product version shown above matches the Avast Pro Antivirus build that I have installed.

The contents of the InitJsonOutSvc.dat is:

}

My system temp folder %TEMP% is C:\Users\Mike\AppData\Local\Temp.

How can I get these files from being created at each reboot, or at least move them to the system temp folder if thats where they should be?

Good Afternoon,

Was it ever confirmed by Avast these files are supposed to be visible to users? I also have them in my c:\temp and looking in InitJsonInSvc.dat I did see the revision number the program version I currently have running. Like others, I delete them and next reboot they’re back. Thank you in advance for your help.

Should be the version of avast if indeed avast installed.

Hi MaraJade, I did not get any replies to my query, sorry. I have logged a ticket with support on this, have yet to hear back. When I do I will post back here.

Update on this issue. Seems that Avast Anti-Virus by default (in some cases) enables the Debug Logging option and generate these logfiles.

To correct, go to Settings - General - Maintenance and note that the Enable Debug Logging checkbox is not enabled. Now toggle the chekcbox to ON and then OFF again. This should now reset the option and no longer create the logfiles each time Avast starts up. At least it did on my three workstations which were showing this problem. Hope it works for others too.
