AVG picked this up but avast didn’t. It’s a rootkit. Can anyone help explain what dangers it brings and why avast wasn’t able to detect it?
Hi,
3 things.
-
Either AVG or Avast! need to go. Personally I’d keep Avast! around, just my opinion. Reason being: 2 Av’s can dramatically reduce your system speed and can cause FP’s and in rare cases BSOD’s.

Please run these programs in the ordered list.
Adwcleaner/MBAM/OTL/AswMBR
Programs: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
- Find the file path and upload it to www.virustotal.com and scan it. Give us the link for it. And can you screen shot the warning of AVG. That also might help.
After this someone (Essex most likely) will be here to help you remove anything that shouldn’t be their.
Still with us?

Looks like an AVG FP
