Yes it is.
If you’re asking because you think the Home version does not protect as the same as the Professional (paid) version, forget, the differences are not on security and protection but in other features
Thanks very much for your reply. So I think the home edition meets my needs.
Welcome to the forums, Typhoon!
Be sure to come back often … learn more about Avast … and maybe help others!
Thank you.
Hello,
Although the Home version meets most peoples needs if you can afford it then maybe buy the full Pro version to contribute to alwil and make avast! better.

Protection in depth is always better and there are some specialist programs better suited to anti-adware/spyware that you should also employ besides practicing safe hex. Check out the DropMyRights link in my signature below.
If you haven’t already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it.
All of these work well alongside avast, unlike having two resident virus scanners which can cause conflict.
Hi all,
The reason I’m asking is that, I just got a router and I’m hearing that with a router installed, there’s no need for additional firewall software. So I thought using Avast Home Edition helps me protect my pc from viruses as well as some other malware.
I’d appreciate it, if you guys could advise me on this issue. Do I have to install any other firewall/AV software in addition to Avast!.
Thanks in advance.
It’s best recommend to get a Software Firewall along with your router to provide multiple protection. For a free software firewall, I would recommend Zone Alarm free edition for novice users. There are other free firewalls out there such as Kerio and Comodo if you wish to try those.
For antivirus, avast! already covers that. If you wish you may use online or non-resident virus scanners such as Bit Defender and ClamWin to keep an close eye for any new infections that avast! might miss.
