I use 3 email clients 'Windows Live' , 'Windows Mail' & 'Outlook' but have noticed that Avast 5 only inserts the ' clean ' message into incoming and outgoing mail using Outlook and not in the other two . Is there any way to correct this ?
Well I don’t use any of those clients, but it most certainly should work with Outlook.
The other two ‘Windows Live’ , ‘Windows Mail’ if they are importing web-based email and not the POP3/SMTP protocols, then they could be using the MS Proprietary DeltaSync protocol (which can’t be modified by avast) ?
Well actually Windows Live & Windows Mail are both using the POP3/SMTP protocol .
Also when I send or receive Hotmail via Outlook which uses MAPI, this does includes the ‘avast clean’ message . ???
Are you using the Outlook Connector to send/receive Hotmail via Outlook?
Hi Ravi , no I’m not using the Outlook Connector .
I wonder then how come you have a MAPI connection to Hotmail in Outlook? Without the connector Outlook is supposed to use the standard POP3/SMTP protocols to communicate with Hotmail. Two possibilities -
- You set up Outlook after setting up your Hotmail account in Windows Live Mail and Outlook imported the settings somehow, or
- You are a Hotmail Premium customer.
Hi Ravi , no neither of those .
I just went to Tools/Account settings/New and then chose the top option: Microsoft Exchange,POP3,IMAP,or HTTP and clicked on next, entered details and so on . Then it’s listed as ’ Type ’ MAPI .
This is Outlook 2007 , not sure if it’s the same for all versions .
The bottom option is: Microsoft Office Outlook Connector
Outlook Mobile Service ( Text Messaging ) , but as I say , I am using the top one .
