Install A/V before or after a firewall?

Hi and thanks for reading my post!

I have read somewhere sometime something about importance of order in which a firewall and an antivirus are installed (either FW before or after A/V). Should this be a valid issue, could anybody kindly elaborate on it, pls?

Many thanks in advance!
Best regards,

It doesn’t matter.
Install both before going online, that is what matters.

It shouldn’t make much difference if you have downloaded both AV and Firewall on another system and install them off-line.

Generally I install the AV first - Most Firewalls have a learning mode that checks what you already have installed that tries to connect to the internet and it allows those access whilst it learns your activity.

I do as DavidR does. I install AV first, and FW last. That way my FW learns all my programs. Anyways, Windows FW is protecting you until you choose when to install your third party FW.

lol I also have personally found less hassle installing AV first. I’ve installed FW first but seems to be a busier process, as there can be FW popups (usually) to be confirmed etc etc.

Thanks for all replies!!
I see there’s no hidden magic in this issue :stuck_out_tongue:
The only valid reason for any specific order/succession of installation seems to be the pressumed installed apps check upon the first run of a firewall. That’s good to know.
