Install error

When trying to install the Home edition, I get the message, "“This application has failed to start because aswCmnOS.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem”
Well, re-installing obviously doesn’t work(I just keep getting the sane message)
If I continue with the install, I get a notice that there was an error during the installation, and the program doesn’t work, althought there is a folder of files in AWIL in the Program Files folder…
I am using win XP SP2. I stopped all other progs and presently have NOD32 installed…
Any ideas?

Can you re-download the installer from the website and run that?

You can search the board for aswCmnOS.dll. You’ll find a lot of information.
Are you using the last (4.6.652) version of avast?
You will need to uninstall NOD32 (of course) to test avast…

I get the same message and still can not get avast to work. I get the error on startup and cant figure out what to do if you find out what to do please email me at mamawj0@yahoo.com subject: avast fix
thanks

Please start a New Topic of your own as this one being over three and a half years since the last post.

  • Go to this link, http://forum.avast.com/index.php, scroll down to the avast! 4.x Home/Pro forum and click it, click the New Topic button at the top of the list and post there.

There has just been a new release/program update, 4.8.1282 so if you haven’t got that I would suggest downloading it and do a clean reinstall.

In the new topic say if you previously had any other AV installed ?
I suggest you remove your email from your post unless you particularly like spam.
