Install FreeAV after uninstall to achieve 365 day interval before licence expiry

In the past, I have done installations of new versions of Avast Free after uninstalling the old version in order to achieve a fresh 365 day licence renewal interval before expiry. This was so that I could ensure that the clueless naive users I support did not run the risk of protection expiring and so leaving them vulnerable. Avast’s changes to this have created the very real possibility of no protection. I realise that there is a school of thought that thinks that those who cannot expertly manage their computers don’t deserve continuity of protection. These permanently naive users are sufficiently distant from where I live that I often cannot guarantee to be able to call on them when there is less than 30 days to expiry in to ensure continued protection by doing the renewal procedure for them.

Time for you to do some research before posting.
Users will stay protected and it doesn’t matter if the free version says expired or not.
It will automatically register again for a year.
It even.doesn’t matter if there is a Internet or not.

Hi,

yes there has been a change. Now if you make the reinstall 200 days before expiration you will get the same valid license as you had before so 200 days remaining. If you will reinstall after expiration you will get a new license for 365 days. But honestly no reinstallation is needed it’s much easier to click on Activate button in UI. And don’t worry even when the product is expired the protection is full.

Thanks guys. I guess that I never need visit my wife’s sisters who live 50 miles away ever again. Their Avast protection continues regardless. Whoopee!

You should only visit people you enjoy visiting. If you don’t like someone, stay away.
