I had previously installed Avast months ago and had lost connection to the internet. I uninstalled using the information from Avast website. Recently I uninstalled McAfee and am finally getting around to trying Avast again. I downloaded the most recent home version. It seemed to install ok and it ran a scan. I have not done an online registration yet.
The challenge now is that I keep getting out of memory messages. I don’t know if Avast running in the background is doing this or if it is something else. When I go home, I intend to go to the Belarc website and run their program to see just what is out there. Although I no longer have McAfee, Adaware is still on my computer. Does this make a difference?
I would really love to be able to use Avast. My daughter has it and loves it. Thanks.
Adaware shouldn’t make a difference in an of itself (if it’s running in the background) but can if it’s in conjunction with other programs running in the background.
Sometimes, McAfee won’t be completely removed if, before, you do not uninstall Avast, including the use of its “Uninstall Application” if necessary (www.avast.com/eng/faq-install-uninstall-avast.html).
