When I tried to install the free version of avast anti-virus for mac, i ran into the error message that the “Virus definitions download has failed” followed by “forbidden”.

I ran macOS Sierra (V 10.12.6) on a MacBook Pro 2.6GHz i7. An earlier post (that I can access anymore) from 2015 suggested that it might be a server problem. Could one of the admin confirm this or might there be an different problem altogether?
