I cannot install Avast. I keep getting illegal operation error and then closes befor installation is completed

AVAST caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 0167:bff7a3d4.

The error 0167:bff7a3d4 is generally related to NAV bad uninstalling?
Did you have Norton Antivirus in the past? If so, how did you uninstall it?

I have the same problem and I never had NAV on this computer. There was an ancient version of McAfee installed, which I uninstalled via the control panel.
Did you find a solution to the problem? I’d be grateful for any help… My error message is

In fact, the problem could be due to other antivirus (conflict).
Is there any other application (standalone) to remove Registry keys left behind by McAfee?

I tried Google with 015f:bff78a05 but did not succeed… :-[

for norton antivirus, there’s a removing tool provided by norton (serach in this forum !) :wink:

it solved the problem on my mother’s computer wich didn’t want to install avast because of a previous install/desinstall of NAV
