Installation error

Hi
I have always used avast in the past but it seams to now be locking up my system. Infact I have had to re format my hard drive 3 times due to lock ups and my system not rebooting and I have discovered that it is avast that is the problem.

Can some one please help as I am now left without no anti virus. I have tried re- installing the program from scratch but still get the same problems.
Help!!!

We will need more information to be able to help you:

  • Which OS are you using? Is it up to date?
  • What avast! version and VPS file (virus database) number?
  • Do you use a firewall? Which one?
  • Do you have any other antivirus installed in your system? Any is being installed automatically (restore to OEM situation)?
  • Any other security programs that could interfere?
  • In XP/Vista, is there any useful information into Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Events, specially ‘Errors’?

up to date

AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual
Core Processor 4800+
2.51ghz 2gb ram

System restore turned on
Windows automatic updates turned on and Up to date
Using windows firewall
No other anti virus

attached event viewer system and application logs

Julia, I couldn’t find anything wrong in your logs in the version you’ve posted.
It’s difficult to say what’s wrong and avast can’t be installed in a clean system…
How did you install Windows? By a manufacturer CD (restore CD) or by Microsoft CD itself?
