Installation problem with NT4

Hi,
I deploy without problem Avast client on my LAN (win XP and 2000) from ADNM. I cannot remotly deploy on NT4 workstations. I generate a manual msi package and localy install without problem. But on one workstation NT4, the NetAgent cannot be started ; follow install log:

13:12:07 vrb/sys Service avast! NetAgent installed
13:12:07 vrb/sys Starting service avast! NetAgent
13:12:09 vrb/sys Service avast! NetAgent started, errcode: 0x0000007F
13:12:09 min/gen Err:Le service avast! NetAgent n’a pas pu être démarré.
Code d’erreur : 0x0000007F
13:12:09 vrb/sys Reboot set by changed resident C:\WINNT\System32\drivers\aavmker4.sys
13:12:09 vrb/sys Driver file copied: C:\WINNT\System32\drivers\aavmker4.sys

windows error x7F is “specified procedure cannot be found”
I check the requirements but it seems to be correct: WinNT4 SP6 Jet4.0 SP8 and MDAC2.8 SP1

Any idea, please ?

Could you please go to My Computer → C:\Program Files\ALWIL Software\Avast4 and double click the program AvAgent.exe? Is there an error message? (e.g. a missing import function from a library)

Yes I can launch AvAgent.exe but it exits immediately with code 0. (no error message)
I finally presume there is an installation problem. I see in the processes an avast.setup process with persists after reboot.
Nevertheless, I don’t know how to uninstall Avast in order to re install it.
The control panel/uninstall program/unistall Avast does not work and “rundll32 c:\program files\alwil software\avast4\setup\setiface.dll RunSetup” does nothing. ???

Try downloading the netclient package from our website http://www.avast.com/eng/download_avast_distr.html#3 and running it on that machine. It should offer you a “repair”…

Thanks you.
I tried this package with the cmd “setup_av_net.exe /client” but without success. I can see some files unpacking (animated gif) during several seconds and after anything (the process disappear from the task manager with no GUI things) …
The ghost process avast.setup always stays here. I wonder me if it could not disturb the setup_av_net.exe ? In this case, how to remove it (“access denied” because it was opened and no safe mode with NT4)

The avast.setup process is the update process. It won’t disturb the normal operation of avast but it should be terminated (stopped) after the update process finished. So, in your case, something wrong with the update seems to be happening.
The ‘repair’ option that Vlk mentioned should call avast.setup process too…

The workstation has died (motherboard) (several years of service, pace …)
New machine, so I forget the problem … ;D
