machine : asus x450jb. intel 4720hq. gtx 940m. 1tb hdd. 4gb ram. i just bought it 5 days ago.
operating system : windows 8.1 that came with the machine
av used before : none. this is the first av installed it this machine.
method of removal : using control panel add/remove program. and reinstall it and remove it again using avastclear.exe in safe mode.
version of avast used : the one on the front page that’s free : https://www.avast.com/download-thank-you.php?product=FAV-ONLINE&locale=en-ww
i already tried googling for similiar symptoms : https://www.google.com/search?q=avast+kill+internet&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
and tried all of the above method, and still no go. avast still blocks me from browsing usng a browser when connected with a wired connection.
i’m in the process of redownloading windows 8.1 using microsoft media creation tools, and reinstall my windows 8.1, cause i got the key in my machine.
Have you try Repair Avast:
- Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → Avast
- Click on ‘Repair’.
- Follow instructions.
- Reboot.
Or pls download Avast! free from http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
Brand new computer comes with a pr-installed AV. Asus usually pr-installs McAfee.
Follow the instruction in my signature to Successfully install Avast.
Unless you totally remove what was pr-installed, you’ll have nothing but problems, as you’ve already found out.
