: Hi i have installed avast version 4 free edition i did a scan on my computer windows 98 and it found some adware and virus and i am not sure what to do next so i put them in the chest
here they are:
file name apuc.dll in c:\windows\system virus description is win32:adan-022
file name DbAu.exe in c:\program files\dashbar virus is win32:adan-059
file name exdl1.exe in c:\windows\system is virus win32:exdl [adw]
file name key2.txt c:\windows is virus win32:trojano-2
file name msbbhook.dll in c:\temp is virus win32:adware-gen
file name msbe.dll c:\windows\system is virus win32:adware-gen
file name pwrscwpb.dll in c:\program files\powersearch\too
file nme salm.exe in c:\temp is win32:srchassist
file name salmhook.dll in c:\temp
file name in win32:adware-gen
The files in the System section of the Chest are back-up copies should they be needed to recover from an infection of these important files, leave them there.
Leave the file/s in the avast Chest, a protected area where it can do no harm. You should leave it there for a week or two to ensure no harmful effects of having moved it. If there are no harmful effects, then scan it again (from within the Infected section of the chest) if that scan also confirms it as infected you can delete it from within the chest.
You can keep all.
The three clean system files backuped.
The other infected files. Wait one or two weeks, right click the files and scan them again.
If your computer is working and the files are really infected, you can get rid from them so.
