Installer virus

A file keeps “installer.exe” keeps popping up inm my desktop.
It is mentioned in relation to a “gogo toolkits” adware but the other symptoms associated with that do not seem to be present (such as the “ruby13” process).
In addition my browser keeps forgetting my forum passwords (email etc) although autocomplete is on.
Avast scan found a number of Trojans and I moved them to chest as recommended, but the file keeps returning.

This is the hijack report and just when I asked for hijack system scan, avast
warned me of another virus

Hi grunewald,

Before getting too far into this you should not run hijckthis from a temporary folder. Please relocate it to c:\

You should also seriously consider both updating to XP SP2 and installing a third party firewall.

Posting a list of the files names/locations and names of the trojans identified would also be helpfull.

Finally, upload these two files

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7Debug\mdm.exe

C:\WINDOWS\System32\winload.dll

to Jotti

http://virusscan.jotti.org/

and Virus Total

http://www.virustotal.com/en/indexf.html

and let us know if anything is found.

 Hi Grunewald :

A "trojan" is not a "virus" & from your log, it appears you do NOT have any antiSPYWARE/
antiTROJAN program(s) on your computer !? Since trojans are best handled by such programs,
I recommend you start by using the Good & FREE "AVG Antispyware" from www.ewido.net
and/or the FREE version of "SUPERantispyware" from www.superantispyware.com .

I used AVG and it removed some spyware.
But the installer.exe thing reappeared in my desktop.
I will do the other things you say tomorrow and let you know.

OK.

I forgot to put installer.exe in the list of files to upload to Jotti and Virus Total. Please submit that one too.
