Hi,
Whenever I install AIM95 into my daughter’s computer, I get a virus detection warning “win32-adaware-sticky[trj]”. Is this a false alarm or a real virus? I did a google search and symantec site for known virus but I couldn’t find any. Has anybody encountered this problem? Thanks for your help.
Hi, I’m having the same problem! :'(, I removed and it warned again that it was in recycle, removed again. Ran avast, trend, symantic, adaware, and Spybot S&D, non showed any problem and non had any listing for it. I am holding my breath :
shorty there after I got another warning and this time it changed it’s file name. repeated removal, warnd again it was in recycle. this time I turned of xp restore, deleted, and am holding my breath :-\
I too am wondering why this is showing as a treat when non of the other virus scan’s recognize it, If you get any info please let me know
I had this happen too. I believe it was a false positive…as I sent them to the quarantine chest and after the new virus database update…rescanned the file in the chest and it didn’t detect it as a trojan anymore. I wouldn’t worry about it.
FALSE POSITIVE
If you are getting a virus warning that you believe is a false positive, then if you can zip and password protect (‘virus’, will do) the suspect file and send it to virus @ avast.com (no spaces).
Give a brief outline of the problem, the fact that you believe it to be a false positive and include the password in the body of the email. Some info on the avast version and VPS number (see about avast {right click avast icon}) will also help.
You could also check the offending/suspect file at: Jotti - Multi engine on-line virus scanner www.virusscan.jotti.dhs.org if any other scanners here detect them it is less likely to be a false positive.
