Is it safe to install Avast 5 over the 4.8 version in order to update it to the new version? I heard it causes driver/conflicts. Sometimes settings conflict via unremoved registry key and error in settings/drivers or something like that. Is it true it causes this issue when people installs over it? Or is it safe and can I still install version 5 over the current one I have?
You don’t say what avast 4.8 version Home/Pro that you have or what avast 5.0 version you intend to install, free/pro/suite ?
Since that is the official recommended method I would say yes. As this method also retains the information on your existing 4.8 registration, uninstalls 4.8 and then installs 5.0.
