Instant Message--Yahoo Games

???New to Avast. Seems great so far. Must be I gave up a payed AV for it.

Anyways, I do not use IM’s, so I do not understand them that much. So please forgive me for what must be a basic question.

My wife uses MSN Mesenger only. However she does play games online at Yahoo, and chats through the online screen they have while playing. Does this mean that I still have to leave a check mark next to Yahoo listing in the Instant Messaging selection list??

Thanks.

I dont think so, I believe its only for the Yahoo instant messenging program.
And welcome to the forum

Back to the original question (I know, I know, I’m a party-pooper :P) …

Admittedly Yahoo’s made all kinds of changes since the days when I used their Messenger, but I’m sure there was some kind of hook-in between Messenger and Chat, as used in their games.

I gave up on Y’s Chat and Games because anyone who had me on their Messenger list could see me and contact me there, even after I’d supposedly dismantled Messenger. And you could choose only to be visible to everyone, or invisible to everyone, unlike, say, ICQ, which if you send to someone while you’re invisible makes you visible to just that person.

Anyway, I’m rambling again – meant to say I see no harm in adding Yahoo to the ticks, if you’re using the IM provider anyway. I’d guess that resources used depends more on whether that provider is enabled, not what IM services it’s protecting.

Best,
Mike
