instup.exe hanging when it runs. Also restarts itself after latest def update.

So today I’ve come across a problem I’ve not had before… earlier on in the day I was manually checking for a definition update as it hadn’t updated in a while… and it ran fine with no sign of an update.

But around an hour ago… I checked for a manual update and it finally found new definitions… and things seemed strange right off the bat as it started to update… the process hung around in my processes a lot longer than it usually does… usually a definition update is practically instant… now the process is lingering around for around 30+ seconds… and whenever it checks for an update now… (whether automatic or manual)… whenever I go to the AvastUI in definition update… I get the usual message that it couldn’t find an update or whatever and I press the OK prompt to remove the information… but after doing this… instup.exe will start again without me even doing anything and in the UI it will act as if I had manually looked for an update again…

Anyone know what could be causing this? Because I’ve never seen this before.

Hmm… it just stopped doing it for some reason and the instup.exe process now goes away as it should… I noticed when I was having the problem that I couldn’t even log into the forums or the avast site… were there some recent server issues?

Because the moment I was able to get into and log into the avast forum/site again, the problem subsided.

There were some connection problems earlier today (when I tried to connect), mainly with the location that checks your ID when connecting to the forums. But that didn’t last very long, that said I can’t see how this would be related to instup.exe checking for updates.
