Google is planning to add OpenOffice to be used on-line, without local installation.
They’re making a deal with Sun Corporation.
Microsoft, to not stay behing, is planning to release in 2006 the Office Live. A stripped version of MS Office to be used on-line by the small companies that can’t (or don’t want to) buy full Office. I don’t know if it will be allowed to home users (probably will).
Microsoft are changing the name of Microsoft Antispyware, the new name will be Microsoft Defender.
From Microsoft says that there will be and some new thing along with the new name!!! http://download.bg/news_view.php?id=3945( the url is in Bulgarian language )
I have also got the flashblock extension for firefox, so all I see is an icon to indicate there is flash content (very handy on dial-up). I click if I want to see it, but more and more sites are using flash for navigation and not just ads. So it could become a bit of a lottery.
An attacker who manages to entice a user to a malicious Web site with a malformed Flash file could grab control of the PC, said eEye, if that user was running Windows with Administrator rights.
Mind you common sense, again plays a big part in the avoidance, backed up of course by DropMyRights.
NB The new Flash update will not display if you have Obj-Tabs ticked under Adblock options in Firefox. The Mozilla site says this is because of increased security in the Flash plug-in.
S.Z. Craftec’s avatar also seems to be broken- it just judders like a paused video. I don’t know if this could be Flash related?
I’m actually quite glad I was able to turn the tabs off because they always annoyed me and I never blocked any flash content- I hadn’t noticed the option before.
It’s probably worth repeating that Flash content won’t display with Adblock enabled in Firefox unless the default settings are changed after updating the Flash plug-in to patch the security hole.
I’m sure there’re going to be plenty of Firefox users scratching their heads over this after updating.
Microsoft has developed a tool called the Static Driver Verifier, or
SDV, that uses “model checking” to analyze the source code for Windows
device drivers and see if the code that the programmer wrote matches a
mathematical model of what a Windows device driver should actually do.
If the driver doesn’t match the model, the SDV warns that the driver
might contain a bug.

Flash vulnerability compromises IE and Opera security
Internet Explorer and Opera users have been urged to upgrade to protect
against a newly discovered flaw. The vulnerability, in Flash Player
version 7.0.19.0 and earlier, could allow a hacker to compromise their
system.
For an update and the fix, go to the following site: http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/triggerpages_mmcom/flash.html
The triggerpages_mmcom/flash.html may not work for Firefox or Opera (or any other non-activeX browser) as they don’t have activeX which is required for installation of the macromedia flash plugin.
Download Macromedia flash - This worked for firefox as an off-line flash plugin installer, not sure if it would work for Opera.
