Unfortunately the recent security update from Microsoft caused a big problem for many Windows 7 users.
If you can’t boot this disk is supposed to fix the issue.

Doesn’t this use https in all browsing which would then inhibit avast from scanning ???

Yes so it depends on how you use it. It’s not my default search but used only when I select it.

Ok

Microsoft appears ready to concede. Windows 8: the new OS needs the Start button back, badly.

The ironic part is that many of us have known this for a very long time.
I’ve been using Classic Start Menu ( http://www.classicshell.net/ ) since the early beta days of Windows 8.
I think it’s about time that the Doctor (Microsoft) listens to it’s patients so that
both the Doctor and the Patient can get on with their lives and actually reap the benefits
that Windows 8 has to offer.

Microsoft has know this for some considerable time, from the many reviews, etc. but they in their wisdom chose to ignore it.

From the PC World article, the question raised is what functionality will the Start button have, if and when it does make an appearance.

In addition to the Start button, reports earlier in April said Microsoft also was planning a boot-to-desktop option to allow PC users to bypass the Start screen without resorting to third-party options.

So we will have to wait and see if users be able to boot right into the classic desktop interface (without having to use another utility) and avoid the Metro new interface.

Unless they give us back total control which includes the ability to boot to the original desktop and start menu, I would simply continue the use of http://www.classicshell.net/ .

Freeware to Create Bootable ISO of Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 Setup

I have tested this on my windows 8 Pro system. Created and booted from the DVD created.
(No, I did not try to install Windows 8 because I like my current installation…)

Just reading this, it certainly isn’t looking good. :frowning:

TimeFreeze from Toolwiz (Major Geeks offers a niced video on this program.)
They say that time waits for no man. (unless you use TimeFreeze)
Once engaged, anything you do on your system is suspended and fully erased (If you so choose),
once you reboot your system.
A great program for those of us that like to try new toys (Programs - Apps.) and never know what will happen
to our system because of the new installation.
You may also elect to keep changes that have happened while you’re in the protected mode of TimeFreeze.

Want the most reliable Windows PC? Buy a Mac

Nah, Id rather buy 3 of the Acer Aspire E1 571, which came a close second for almost the same price as the Mac.

No arguments… Mac might have something else to say.

Just bringing some reality back to the subject, not to mention the mac user has to also buy whatever version of windows they want to run under boot camp.
