The biggest complaint by far with iTunes is that the songs you buy are protected with Apple’s FairPlay DRM, preventing them from working on other MP3 players and other software. Now all iTunes songs will be DRM-Free by the end of March and you can easily re-download all you existing music in the DRM-Free format.

Bob are the system requirements the same as Vista?
i don’t know whats offically said but I’d say the system requirements are under that ones from vista…
(or the same)
Mac,
The graphic requirements have been downgraded from the Vista Ultimate version.
The talk coming out of the PR/Marketing side of MS, they are saying if you can run Vista then you should be able to run windows 7 on the same hardware.
I think they learnt a heavy and expensive lesson on the heavy hardware upgrade hit on Vista.
Very good to know…
I think MS got badly burned with the jump in system spec to move from XP to Vista. Not to mention the current ongoing fiasco about MS and the Vista Capable stickers on new systems, that could cost them a lot in court. I’m sure many more would probably have upgraded if it effectively meant they would have to get a new system or it required a major system upgrade too.
That extra cost made it too much for many people and they would wait until they were going to upgrade or buy a new system…
That extra cost made it too much for many people and they would wait until they were going to upgrade or buy a new system...Still a heck of a lot less expensive than switching to a Mac. ;D
Probably by a long way ;D
Over to you Mac
I installed Win7 on an older P4 system that would not run Vista. Win7 Beta set up and ran flawlessly. I think they have a winner here. It seems like an upgrade of WinXP rather than an upgrade of Vista. it took several attempts to get the 2.44GB file downloaded (server problems), but it installed easily and is so far not problematic at all.
CCleaner doesn’t install to the recycle bin, but works fine from the desktop shortcut. I would suggest using administrator rights when installing all programs to get full functions. Avast installed fine and works as great as always.
I guess I won’t have to get that Mac after all…lol.
: Not going through the Price war again.

TOONEL.NET
toonel.net is an experiment in a technique for conserving network bandwidth.
If you are paying a fee based on the amount of data you transfer (e.g. 3G/GPRS/DSL/CDMA) and have monthly download limit,
or if you have narrowband connection (e.g. dialup modem) then you are most likely to appreciate the service toonel.net offers.
There are number of toonel.net client application packages. All solutions are 100% Java based and therefore this service can be used
on any platform with an installed Java Runtime Environment, including mobile phones

This should help all of those on Dial-up like David.
Actually this could help everyone because soon all internet connections will have data transfer limits unless the Government steps in.

I’m having a quick look at Toonel (interesting take on words, like a Geordie saying Tunnel), but it uses a proxy so you would also need to co-ordinate that with the web shield and since it also does email, perhaps we would have to do something with the internet mail provider.
