Autorun Eater from Old McDonlad’s Farm is available:

Speaking of making a mess USB Safely Remove totally messed my XP Pro system and the only way to recover was to FORMAT and install fresh and I even purchased it because I though it was good.
When it was installed new Flash sticks were not recognised that worked on my old XP Home system.
My problem reports are on its forum:

Sorry your having a problem on XP.
It’s working very well for me on Windows 7.

Thanks to TinEye and this neat Firefox Add-on, we can now do a Reverse Image Search.

Here’s an example:

you don’t need this in Win7, the “safe remove” option can be tweaked from the device entry in device manager.

edit: yeah I saw there were a few different options in the software discussed here. I’d never use that in Windows.

I’m using it on windows xp pro with no problems, kenny.

Get Windows 7’s Advanced “Windows Update” in Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Server 2003 and 2008

Good opportunity

can be deleted

installed it but no changes
same old ie based update. nothing like windows vista/7 updates manager.

anyone checked it??

I thought that this was a stand alone tool as the image on that link doesn’t look like it is going through a browser.

Also the link to download it, seems to indicate stand alone, see below

hXXp://download.windowsupdate.com/windowsupdate/redist/standalone/7.4.7600.226/windowsupdateagent30-x86.exe.

So is there not a means of launching this tool in the Startup Folder, desktop, etc.

guys this is not an MS link at all, I wouldn’t advise to install that. Just the download link is very misleading, just don"t trust that.

edit: forget my post, that’s MS ;D

@DavidR

No, Sir.

now nothing, I edited my post while you were posting ;D ;D

it’s just the update agent, that won’t bring the Vista/Seven GUI to XP

and as said, you should have it already installed ;D the website (askvg.com) is completely misleading

and now from Microsoft:
Notice

If you use the Microsoft Update Web site to install the latest updates, or you have automatic updates turned on in Windows, the latest version of the Update Agent will automatically be installed on your computer.

thought so.

...and as said, you should have it already installed ;D

yes I have it already installed. what’s there to laugh about?

the website (askvg.com) is completely misleading :D

yeah it misleading. I think they have done it to get some visitors.

what’s there to laugh about ? that you’ve been trying to install something that’s already installed on all Windows computers through WinUpdate itself.

I didn’t get it through windows update.

Strangely enough, I don’t have it installed, it wasn’t offered in the August or September Patch Tuesday assault.

So visiting hXXp://wXw.update.microsoft.com/ after this batch of posts, when checking for updates if offered to install the latest windows update version which I accepted. Once installed, it completed the check and I have no updates pending, as expected.
