Be very sad to see windows XP die out considering it is the most used version of windows in the world. What on earth is mr gates thinking of when he still has a huge userbase following of XP.

Many months ago I switched my XP machine to Ubuntu. With what I’m seeing with Linux Mint, Ubuntu may not be installed on my machine much longer.

Not the best of news for the third world
and those that cannot afford to upgrade for whatever reason.

Maybe someone will come up with an additional non-official security pack for XP or a version II,
just as we experienced with Win98.
Turkish coders are known to come up with these solutions.

That could very well happen. I know I will never switch to any form of Linux on my XP laptop. I tried Ubuntu and just didn’t like the UI or the provided browser and email programs. Mint has the same bundled programs, and a better UI, but I couldn’t get my wireless card to work after 6 hours of trying and doing the same things I did in Ubuntu plus a lot more. Since I have found that Win8 32 bit runs very well on that machine, if I decide to dump XP, that is the direction I will go. I found a video driver modding utility that lets you use the newest AMD drivers on the old legacy cards so that problem with Win 8 is solved. I could also have it in a dual boot setup and use XP only for legacy games that do not connect to the web and do all the online activities in Win8. (with Classic Shell installed of course ;))

Linux is free and constantly updated which is why that’s listed as an alternative.

Of course, but many, if not most, of the remaining XP users are businesses that need Windows software to do their daily activities.

Well this is existing software: http://keyser-soze-s-unofficial-xp-security-pac.software.informer.com/

It is ??? No description. Download and install what ???
An external link to install Microsoft updates. When the Microsoft updates stop, what good will this program do ?
I would much rather get my updates directly from the horses mouth instead of through a third party application.

They could analyze the updates and make versions applicable to XP.

That’s why business users should move their stuff to the cloud as much as possible so they won’t need depend on a specified platform, at least they should use cross-platform applications… moving to cloud (At least an internal cloud) will save them a lot of money and time.

Hi Omid Farhang,

And then the next question will set in. What cloud to choose and to rely on.

No I think I see a lot of admins already started to migrate and test Win7 at least at school institutions they do for over a year now.
This now they can no longer wait with migrating to another platform.
To force this issue the deadline came at the right moment and it does not take large investments hardware wise.

But there still are a lot superstores that run good old XP under their systems to just give an example.

Update:

Chromecast also allows you to play content directly from the Chrome browser.
That means anything you can play in Chrome can be cast wirelessly to your TV –
video from Hulu or HBO, photos from Facebook, or anything else. In some cases,
you may need to use a laptop instead of a phone or tablet to accomplish this.
You can install the Chrome extension called Google Cast from:
