Tech legal news site Groklaw shutting down, citing email privacy concerns.
Chalk up one more victory for the NSA :cry:

Sounds like some exaggeration and overreaction is going on there.

As parties involved are not to communicate about what is going on by court order and recently in UK even hard disks were being pulverized because of underlying national security issues, it is senseless to comment or even speculate on the aspects of this news as there is nothing to be reported. To ridicule bob3160’s concerns here as a sort of " move on folks, nothing to be seen here" is also a bit shortsighted. Everyone should be concerned where total surveillance (75% of all Internet traffic) and censorship is being concerned. Apart from these issues this also means losses to the economy as in the cloud services of some sort may no longer be fully trusted by foreign parties. I also think the whole question is disproportional and we should come to trust these services again,

There was no ridiculing of Bob’s concerns. If anything like that was going on, it was meant to be directed at the person running Groklaw. That’s where the overreaction lies.

It’s actually not an overreaction. The service depends on secure email. Since that’s no longer available,
the only alternative was to shut down the service.

@Asyn,
That should have been in your own security thread. :slight_smile:

Bob, it’s neither security related nor technically relevant.
Nevertheless, it’s interesting and that’s why I posted it here. :slight_smile:

MajorGeeks did a nice job of describing all of the features of the latest avast! release:
