Interface issues

Hello Guys,

I cant seem to find a thread discussing the new avast 2015 interface. So I thought I start one as I have some gripes with the new interface that did not bother me till avast actually detected a virus.

  1. Had a hard time looking for the Virus Chest, accidentally found it by right clicking one of the shortcuts found at the home screen of the interface.

  2. After discovering the virus, I was going to report it to the developers of the software(as it comes from a legit company) that supposedly had the virus but found out I was unable to copy and paste the link from which the virus was sourced(in this case, it was a program update so it was from their server). I am also unable to do so via the Virus Chest

  3. After submitting the virus to the lab, I get no feedback whatsoever. I do not know when it will be sent, has it been sent, or if I will get any feedback.

I hope some experts will be able to simplify my usage with avast with some tips and tricks but I am just realizing how unintuitive it is to use. Anyone else getting this vibe that by trying to simplify Avast, it is actually much harder to get useful information from it now?

Thanks,

FAQ section has lots of info

if when you send a sample from chest, it will do so at next update or when you do a manual update
you usually get no feedback unless they need more info

Hey Pondus,

Thanks for replying. I understand how to use the Virus chest though, I just find that it is really impractical that I am not able to copy and paste any info regarding the virus and that submitting it to the lab basically does nothing to me as a user.

How am I to know whether or not the lab has detected it as a false positive, or if it really is a virus? Must I scan the chest every single time theres an update? In the meantime, I will be unable to use the software while I wait for god knows how long and whether or not they have ran their tests on it yet.

you may attach screenshot and post info here... you can give link to this topic in your message to the lab (they sometimes reply here)

test file(s) here www.virustotal.com / www.metascan-online.com if scanned before, click rescan for a fresh result you may post link to scan result here

what malware name did avast give the detected file?
