Hi, I am that new person trying to learn about my Professional Avast. What I want to know this time is if I switch to simple user interface and change the scan disks from quick scan to standard will this change anything in the enhanced interface? If I change the resident protection in simple interface from standard to high will it change anything in enhanced interface? I want to know this as I am learning I have been switching between the two. I have also notice that in the simple interface if I put the resident protection on high then go back to it later it will say custom, is this because of something I did in the enhanced interface before going back to the simple interface? How are this two interfaces related, total separate or controlling the same thing? Thanks for putting up with a beginner. slybo
Welcome 8)
No. The Enhanced Interface use the so called ‘Tasks’ to store all info about scanning/cleaning/reporting/automation etc.
The Simple User interface won’t interfere in this case with the Enhanced one. On contrary, at Enhanced interface you can change a lot of other settings (even in the providers, residents) that you can’t in the Home version.
Yeah… you’re changing the behavior or the provider sensitivity… See the picture.
Most probably
Some things are related, other complete separate as the Home can’t manage (for instance, see the picture: Virus tab, Packers tab… these options does not exist on Home interface).
Thanks for your reply. Looking at the information you provided I would like to ask if I set the actions to be performed if a virus is found in say resident protection using enhanced interface but switch back to simple interface will the program use the setting of simple interface? Also what happens if I do not set any of these type setting and it finds a virus in the enhanced interface, while using enhanced interface will it just ask what to do? Thanks again for your help and remember for years all I used was Norton and now I realize how simple of a program it was and made for people who did not want to get involved in the antivirus program. I can see I will learn a lot with avast.
By the way Thank You Tech for the screen shots. After looking at them I setup my actions if virus is found from choose action to the way in your screen shots. Just wanted to thank you for the information. slybo
No, automation is just present on the Enhanced interface. The Simple interface will work as usual, stopping at the first infection detected (on-demmand scanning).
Yes… but I see no advantage on that as the scanning will be stopped… I’m not sure of this behavior as I did not remember to have caught a virus with an Enhanced interface task AND without automated actions set before…
For sure, you won’t find such configurable antivirus like avast 8)
