can someone help as iam running xp pro with avast 4.8 in outlook i have just got this error and can not send e-mails now the error is Internal error has occurred in module aswar scan function failed!, function C0000005. can some one help ???

thanks for the reply i have look at the forum and it looks like a lot of people have this problem but can not see if there is a fix for it yet or can someone tell us what to do my hard drive is ntfs not fat32 ???
There is nothing to do, the error relates the the anti-rootkit not being able to run, this won’t effect any other part of avast and will run as normal. Just monitor the topics and see when a fix is announced.
The emails are entirely unrelated to this error about aswar.
What is the full text of the email error ?
What version of MS Outlook are you using ?
What is your firewall ? Does it allow ashMaiSv.exe internet access ?
- If it does delete the entry for it and do a manual check for email. this will force the firewall to ask permission again.
i just use windows firewall and a hard wear firewall part of a network and ashMaiSv.exe has full internet access on all firewalls
MS Outlook 2003 i use
the error what i can find is 06/04/2008 system 1280 Internal error has occurred in module aswar scan function failed!, function C0000005. there are about 5 events at this time all at different times and i cannot send Emil’s not errors are seen in Outlook i get no send and receive errors in outlook it just stop’s ???
The ashMaiSv.exe is the Internet Mail provider, for MS Outlook, You can use the Outlook/Exchange provider/Plug-in. That works from within Outlook and give you much greater flexibility.
So do you have the avast Outlook/Exchange provider/plug-in enabled ?
Is the plug-in not disabled in MS Outlook, Outlook 2003 > Help > About > Disabled items ?

Did you use an antivirus before avast? Which one?
If there any other MS Outlook plugin that you use? Which one?

Have you also got the Internet Mail provider enabled, if so try disabling that.
hi i have all way used avast the one before that was Version4.7.1098 i uninstalled it and put a clean installed of Version 4.8.1169.
i have just tried Internet Mail provider enabled and Disabled no change can not send emails? but does avast use the MS Outlook plugin for outlook ??

If it is not disable into MS Outlook plugin settings… yes, it scans the mail through MS Outlook (not the Express).

Well… I’m using Pro and do not have this problem.
But Home (free) version shouldn’t have it either…
