Internal Error when Avast starts

I have the Avast Home edition.

I am receiving an Internal Error message when the Avast program tries to execute; I receive a pop-up screen to enter a description of what I was doing just before the error occurred. I have filled in the report form and it has been sent though I don’t know if I will receive an email in return as I accidentally selected the MAPI option instead of the SMTP.

I uninstalled and re-downloaded and reinstalled the software to my Windows 98SE system but the error persists.

The programs were working without any problems then I repartitioned my hard disk using Partition Magic 8.0 running from MSDOS (booted in MSDOS and ran the dos version) and resized the only partition on the disk. Then I created another primary partition so that I can install Windows XP and have a dual boot system.

After I created the new partition I booted normally and then the Avast programs started returning an Internal Error message and the pop-up report window.

Does Avast not support a partitioned hard disk?

Where, in XP or into Windows 98?
Can’t you boot into XP and use avast?

Sure… no problem. I have 5 partitions, 3 for Windows and 2 for Linux 8)

I only created a new partition I have not installed WinXP. The programs were running great under Windows 98 SE. After I created the new partition and booted Windows 98SE is when the Internal Error started.

Ok. avast! (as any other antivirus) is a low level application and could not be happy with partition resizing.
Why don’t you uninstall > boot > install > boot 8)

First of all, what is the exact error message? (including any available details)

The popup error report screen does not provide any information as you can see in this screen shot:

I have attached a copies of the Crash report and Error.log generated by Avast.

The crash occurred in MS Jet drivers. So, I’d suggest either to update the Jet drivers (downloadable from Microsoft as MDAC package), or switch the avast! database to XML (in program setting - Troubleshooting page).

Thank you changing the database to XML fixed the problem though I had to change it in the avast4.ini file.

I installed 4 databases after I installed Avast: MS-Access, SQL-Server, MySQL, and Oracle I’m not sure why the MS Jet and MDAC drivers are not working as they are the most current.

Thanks again for all your help.
