Hello,
Choose direct connection (no proxy) in: Settings - Updates

I have exactly the same issue with firefox and XP, impossible to connect to internet, without disabling the web protection. Everything was ok with avast 4.
Help please
Please try, what I’ve posted above…

Helle,
ok thank you,
quick supplementary question, the manipulation that I have to do that is in the setup menu of Avast?
Click Settings - Updates
You’ll find the Proxysettings there.

Hello,
I just made this adjustment and no internet connection is not always possible if Avast 5 is activated
Seems:
- A firewall issue.
- Another software conflict (installed now or bad uninstalled).
- Infection.
Hello,
the firewall is disabled and this problem occurred during the migration of Avast Avast 4 to 5
I had no problem with Avast 4
Can you post a screenshot of: Settings - Updates
Or tell us your settings there, if no SS possible…
Also tell us about other security related software on your machine…!

the firewall is disabled and currently used in the windows
when the agent is disabled web but the other six are active, I can connect to the Internet
Disable is not enought.
What is your firewall that you did disable ?
Maybe try “Detection automatique”
Now go in internet and if your firewall ask for permission then allow and tell me back if its did resolve.
Uncheck this…! (see attachment…!)
Restart.
Try again.

Asyn i did check it and i did do direct automatic and its work for me with 240 mins intervals of the update.

I just try what you asked me to do and still not internet connection.
I connect only if the Web Agent is disabled …
it concerns the infection? I do not know if am infected, I will disconnect and run a scan of my entire computer, this may be long (the last time it took one day)
c 'is the original Windows XP
I’ll see if I can uninstall it but I’m not good at computers
Thank you very much for your help and your effort
I run the scan and I’ll let you informed
No. What I asked you was…
Which other security related programs are running on your machine…??
Please post them here…!

sorry I didn 't understand: when I have installed avast 5 it told me that F-Secure Anti-virus (I seem to remember that this program was installed on my computer at the same time as Windows XP SP2 (SP3 now))was active and there was a risk of conflict but my problem is I do not find the place or is F-Secure Anti-virus but I’m looking …
I have done a quick scan (File: 42065 - Records: 9667 - volumes of data tested: 15.5 GB) and nothing has been found but I am aware that this is not worth a thorough scan.
but I repeat, I am not good at computer and I may often ask stupid questions or do not always understand the meaning of your explanation
Don’t run 2 Avs at the same time…!

Do you use a firewall…??
asyn
I think your problem is that you have 2 resident (active) antivirus (AV) programs on your machine – Avast and F-Secure. You can only run one resident AV on your machine at a time. It sounds like you want Avast, so you need to DELETE F-Secure. To do this, go to Control Panel > Click on Add/Remove Programs > a new window will open up and in this new window look for F-Secure > when you find F-Secure click on it and there will be a button that says “Change/Remove.” After you have done this, reboot your machine twice. Go back into Control Panel > Click on Add/Remove Programs and see if F-Secure is now gone.
