Internet connection timeout elapsed... ???

Hello
Can anyone explain why I constantly get popups headed
"avast!: Internet connection timeout

The text below the heading reads
Internet connection time out elapsed. Continue waiting?
(msimn.exe → mail107.livemail.co.uk:110)
with Yes and No buttons.

In the system tray there is an icon which is related to this.

Version 4.6 Pro

Thanks for the lightning response DavidR. However, I need a bit of guidance to find those screens so I can adjust the settings

I eventually found both the screens, although in v 4.6 the Avast settings one is very different. However, my settings are all exactly as shown on your screenshots.
I changed Ask to Disconnect.

  1. OE - Tools Accounts, Select each email account in turn and Click Properties - Advanced Tab.
    If they are the same as mine and you were experiencing OE timeouts, you may need to increase the OE time out.

  2. avast! - Click on the avast icon and select the Internet Mail provider - Customize… button, Advanced Tab.
    This will be slightly different, it was captured from a previous version and I am likely to be using a different skin - however, the required Tab is the same.
