Hello,
On internet connection icon appears a yellow icon with exclamation sign inside, and I do not have internet connection. It appears, disappears and reappears. Can somebody help me?
Thanks,
Relu
the firewall mode work
This is a common enough issue from my experience, there are a few threads on this yellow exclamation triangle symbol appearing on the Network tray icon because of Avast! agitating something with Windows, although other things can cause this too.
#1 Solution: Open Avast!, in the menu click on Real-time Shields and then on the Web Shield and now look over to the top right and click on the Expert Settings button for it. Place a tick in the checkbox to “Scan traffic from well known web browser processors only”, click OK box at the bottom and close Avast! and perhaps re-boot.
The warning from Avast! developers is that this lowers your protection level, so keep everything else going and make sure you are using the Firewall component or a third party Firewall program of course, but if Avast! is causing many of these internet connection dropouts or cut offs then this will most likely prevent them for you.
One other thing to do is to Troubleshoot your internet connection (LAN or wireless) and your networking Home group although this may require a re-boot ultimately to correct, but have a look around for some of the old threads on this and for other advice too.
Hope this helps, cheers Saulius.
How do you connect to the internet - router, mobile broadband ? you might only have to choose a direct connection which can be found in settings/updates/proxy settings, try it and see.
Hello,
My connection is wireless. Firewall is in ‘work’ mode.
Relu
Did you try the direct connection ? Also last year i had a problem with my wireless loosing connection quite often on my laptop and eventually found out that i had to modify the frequency of my wireless connection, laptops so im told prefer a lower frequency than desktops so dropping mine from 20 to 12 cured the problem but dont ask me how to do it again because i haven’t got a clue, my isp talked me through it
Thank you Saulius, the internet connection is working. I hope that avast team will fix this problem.
Hello,
The problem is back: yellow triangle with exclamation sign inside. I need help!
Relu
…thx for the tip
I did it but the problem persists. It is on/off. I will try microsoft security essentials to see if the problem persists.
Thanks
i HATE wireless…VERY unreliable…10 to 1 its a GENIUNE wireless prob…
to add onto this ( just for interest sake ). do you by any chance have a mobile that is running on Android? IF you do, get a program ( free ) called “Wifi Analizer”…I use it quite a lot…It basicly checks your wireless signal and thereby will help you identifying your prob ( IF its wireless related though )
Sorry to hear that your problem isn’t solved Relu, as I indicated Avast! may have been agitating something here, but many other things can likewise do too so you might haver to check over some of your other programs to find the major culprit, please let us know how you go if you can?
Personally, I found MSE to really slow down my system with an horrendous lag issue worse than any other free AV program, even slower than Comodo CIS on both XP & Windows 7, although it has been awhile and I believe they are up to MSE version 4.0 now, so it might be faster than it was, but it is from Microsoft so I’ll still expect crap-ware.
That said I did once used MSE on a completely vulnerable (no AV, non functioning FW) and heavily infected (hundreds of each major kind of malware) machine that I couldn’t install anything else on to including Avast! because of all that malicious stuff and the damage rendered on there, so MSE isn’t necessarily entirely useless and can sort of work, however it don’t find everything nor remove effectively some of what it do find, but enough to allow me to get other stuff on the PC that did a better job so that I could save to backup the data for my relative.
I wouldn’t want to have to rely upon MSE myself, but Microsoft seem to what it to work as a single security suit and it may conflict with other FW programs and good anti-spyware everyone should have such as MBAM and SAS.
Ooh, apart from your wireless set up also perhaps think about PUP or excess stuff that you have installed that you don’t need or simply still have the downloaded installer for, these can cause conflicts and IME ‘call home’ via some technique that might also be doing this or even a worm from your backup storage device/USB, again best of luck I remember how bad a PITA this all was for me, I really understand.
