Hello there i just got avast 7 Internet edition after seeing it was 50% off and I enjoy supporting good company’s. Now I want to secure my computer by creating a deny all rule then allowing ports in after that. But after vigorously scanning the firewall configuration menu’s I cant find where i can block specific ports on my computer. So far in Firewall - Expert Settings - Packet Rules I can only see specific protocols for a very limited amount of protocols. Is there a option to block specific ports.
maybe you find something here if you search https://support.avast.com/index.php
Well, the avast! firewall is thought to be a very quiet and non-tech-savyy firewall.
It’s powerful, but have few options to be customized.
We, users like you, are waiting for a much more options in the firewall.
But… Thinking a little, why do you want to block some ports? If legit applications (clean, viruses clean) are trying to access them?
Well I work in computer security and have the strangest urge to lock my computer down to only the basic; possibly out of habit. If possible, when avast get the options to lock down specific ports it’ll log the application that tried to get out and the port it tried to get out on. That way above the deny all rule i could add it to the list of allowed ports. But not gonna lie found this “https://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=970” and am quite impressed close to the functionality I’m looking for.
