Still the same problem. Worked for a while after reboot. Now neither IE or Firefox can connect to web pages. However we think we have a possible cause. It’s OK until the machine is connected via PPTP VPN to the office network.

  • Reboot.
  • Brought up both Firefox and IE. Both worked.
  • Dialled in via VPN. Firefox still worked.
  • Brought up IE. It did not work. Proxy registry values appeared. Deleted them.
  • Now brought up Firefox. it worked initially. It did not set the proxy settings. But trying another page after approx 1 minute, also set the proxy registry values.

This sequence is repeatable.
