internet gateway

recently when i went to a three-party two-way firewall(switched from comodo personal firewall to kerio personal firewall)and windows firewall was off and kerio running(windows security center recognized kerio)
when you open up network connection in task bar…above Lan or High Speed Internet(which shows your 1394 Connection…your local area connection…and your wireless network connection…is a new icon…internet gateway with a icon that shows internet connection…disabled(wish someone would tell me how to post a pic of it here)…what is that…WAS NOT THERE WHEN I HAD WINDOWS FIREWALL ON…just when i switched to a incoming and outgoing firewall…any help would be appreciated 8) ::slight_smile:

Can’t you post the screenshot here in forums? http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=8982.0
In fact, it will be easier to help you if we understand completely what Kerio is detecting 8)

tech…it wasn’t any of kerio firewall’s doing…it’s part of windows… its on the wireless icon on taskbar…rt.click…open network connections…and i can’t copy…paste that…part of the computer??? ;D :D…and kerio is a-lot nicer and easier to use than comodo…comodo is too complicated in some ways and too many pop-ups and such…been reading than goodbye topic…its getting long and drawn up and all…take care tech and thanks…just what to know what internet gateway is…think it’s part of windows 8)

Yes you can: use http://www.hoverdesk.net/dl/en/HoverSnap_v08.zip

There’s a pretty good description of the internet gateway here:

http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp_ics/internetgateway.htm

You should be able to enable the connection by doing the following:

Click Start
Right Click My Network Places
Click Properties
Right Click Internet Connection
Click Enable

Also, if you click Internet Connection properties there’s an option to “Show icon in notification area when connected”. You might want to uncheck this.

Do you mean this…

I only see it if UPnP is enabled on my router and on my XP machines. I am only using Windows Firewall on my XP machines. It allows you to control the state of your router’s internet connection (connected or disconnected) from an XP machine.

Yeah-That’s it,But it says disabled,so basically don’t worry about it-Right-Everything is working fine as is.Don’t want to mess with anything if everything is working fine.It just appeared and wondered WHAT IT WAS…It only happened when i turned off windows firewall to put on a third-party incoming and outgoing firewall(kerio personal firewall)since windows firewall is only incoming and i feel more secure with a firewall that’s both ways 8) ;D

@ drhayden1
It wasn’t until Tech posted this that I even noticed this request (Wish someone would tell me how to post a pic of it here) buried in the other text.

It is very hard to read without some white space and punctuation and if something is hard to read, guess what, it doesn’t get read.

OK,DavidR,Thanks,No Hard Feeling or Etc.,I know by now on this forum, everyone is trying to help each other,as we all are from different parts of the world and everyone is different somehow in speech, writing and etc.OK,should I leave as is,Since Internet gateway is part of windows or what is the best thing to do,Everything is working fine as i said ;D
