It is too bad that there is so much of those crappy fake programs.
The millions of newbies everyday are unaware and that is what those fake program makers count on.
Plug for Microsoft Security Essentials
The tech industry’s response to these trends can be seen in initiatives like Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT)'s online anti-scam campaign, it’s newly released free Security Essentials software, and calls for greater industry cooperation. No doubt there’s more to be done.

We’re (at least I) never received a warning from Alwil, ever, to recommend other freewares.
It’s a paranoia, believe me.
I recommend on-line scanners (antivirus), on-demand CD (antivirus), firewalls, anti-spywares, anti-rootkits…
