INTERNET SECURITY SETUPS TO RESTORE -WHAT'S DIFFERENCE?

??? INTERNET SECURITY SETUPS TO RESTORE -WHAT’S DIFFERENCE?

One seems to be the multi-language and the other, only English.

thx-now if I can get rid of all the error msgs and popus and get it restored to what it was prior to the 6/28/10 update, I’d be ;D

Yeah, it will be good to update to 5.0.590.
But also check your update settings to see if they’re ok.

Re: INTERNET SECURITY SETUP TO RESTORE -still getting error msg & popups-that weren’t there prior to 6/28 update.

:frowning:

THIS IS WHAT I’VE DONE 4X IN THE PAST 4 DAYS… >:( JUST RECIEVED ATTACHMENT AGAIN ::slight_smile:
Hello,

Thank you for contacting our support center with your concerns.

Reinstall avast! completely again. New avast! version that should correct the problem has been released. It seems to be the easiest solution of the problem. Even if you did it before, do it again this way, using the uninstall utility, please:

  1. Use our uninstall utility - download it from http://various.abalin.net/aswClear_3.exe (this is more reliable than uninstalling through Add/Remove Programs) and save it to your desktop. Run the utility from the safe mode (restart your pc and begin repeatedly pressing the F8 key).

  2. Clean your cookies and Internet temporary files. More information can be found here:

http://antivirus.about.com/od/securitytips/ht/iecache.htm

  1. Restart the computer.
Now download the latest version 5 of avast!
It can be downloaded from here:

http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_ais_eng.exe (Internet Security)

Please save the installation file onto your hard drive.

  1. Install avast!.

If you have Windows 7 or Vista, either reinstall avast! with UAC disabled (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Turn-User-Account-Control-on-or-off) or run the setup file as an administrator (right-click on the avast! setup file and from the Drop Down Menu select the “Run As Administrator” option).

After you have installed avast!, locate the license file and double click on it and your license will be automatically inserted into the program. Alternatively, you can insert the license file from the avast! user interface as follows:

  1. Start avast! 5.0
  2. Select “Maintenance” from the left menu
  3. Choose “Subscription” from the sub-menu
  4. Click “Insert license file” and browse the files on your computer to locate License.avastlic

If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me again.

With Kind Regards,

Petr Bucek

Off-topic but i am wondering from where are you getting that D letter in the avast name ? It’s avast not aDvast… I have no idea what advast is ???

+1
Seems to be a typo, taken along from the first post or simply a pure error…!
asyn

Yes an obvious typo that was overlooked by me from the post/advice that was sent to me. Despite the typo the advice still worked and that’s what counts

Just wanted to make sure you knew the name of the product you are using. Anyway glad you sorted it out, enjoy !

Glad your problem got resolved from reading my link you got in the forum for advise on uninstall/install. Enjoy your new product
