I’m running the latest version of Avast Internet Security. Whenever I try to run a Smart Scan it gets stuck on the Performance Issues scan, showing 83% completion but not progressing any further.
I’ve tested the problem by leaving Smart Scan running for 20 mins, but the scan still won’t run to completion. I can, however, use the “Stop Scan” button to end the scan.
Smart Scan /will/ complete if I disable the performance issues component.
So, what action should I take in response to this?
Leave Avast alone and wait for a bug fix in the next version of Internet Security
Uninstall and reinstall Internet Security (using the Avast installer’s “Repair” function has caused me problems in the past)
Something else
System: Windows 10 updated to the 11/Sept/2018 cumulative patch, Core 7700hq, 8GB RAM, no other malware/spyware detectors installed. Avast Internet Security 18.6.2349.
Okay. Well, I may reinstall, just to be on the safe side. At least I didn’t get hit by the Web Shield bug that’s been affecting so many people on these boards.
Hi, All. I have got the exact same issue. I tried both repairing Avast & Re-installing, but they never fix the issue. it seems that we have no choice, except disable the performance issues component. Hope they will fix soonest.
Considering the fact that you need to purchase the Cleanup component in order for it to do you any good,
disabling or even better, not installing it is a good idea.
